What is Warzone? Game Types
Warzone is a game for Internet Relay Chat. The game is played in Private Message with the game bot, so you need a registered nick to play.
Joining
To join the game just type @warzone in a private message with the bot (usually Four) when the game is advertised. Once the game actually starts it will be too late to join.
There are multiple Game Types available. Depending on what game type is being played, different rules and strategies are in play. For a full list, look here.
There are a number of different maps in Warzone. Some are larger than others.
Bots
Bots are computer controlled players. They can do everything a player can do. Players will be taken over by bots if they quit.
Turns
Warzone uses the Fair Turn System. Everyone gets the same amount of turns, yet the order is not always the same. For example with four players each player would get one turn in each of the four turns in the game. Sometimes this is ordered so that a player will get a double turn, but they are still not getting any more turns than you are.
Weapons
Weapons are scattered about the map for you to use. All weapons have their advantages and disadvantages.
Health
The size and colour of your health bar represents how much damage you have taken.
Green: Healthy, you have taken at most light damage
Orange: Badly injured, you have taken some heavy damage
Red: Near death, you will be lucky to survive the next time you are attacked
Keep a look out for the descriptions of how other players move between rooms, this is an indication of how healthy they are.
Resting
If you are in red or orange health then resting will give you a small health boost. In addition, resting cures you of bleeding or burn damage.
Rage
As you engage in battle your rage will increase. This is represented by an increasing line of chevrons covering your health bar. You get the most rage from killing an enemy, and you also gain rage from dealing and taking damage. You lose some rage each time you rest.
When your rage bar is full you will have the option of becoming enraged. In this state all of your attacks will be critical hits and you will take less damage than normal. You are only enraged for a few turns unless you kill someone in which case the timer will reset.
Ranks
By playing Slaughter and Team Slaughter you will score ranking points. The more kills you get the faster you will rank. Your rank is shown to you after you die, or when the game ends. Bots cannot rank, so if you quit the game you will forfeit any points you gained this time around.
Peerage
The top 8 players in the leaderboard will have a peerage, from Sir up to King, based on their position in the leaderboard. This is completely different from rank and one does not affect the other. There are female equivalents of the peerages too.
Powerups
Powerups are new and mysterious: Powerups appear and disappear randomly. Powerups take effect as you pick them up. Read the full list of powerups here.
